Making February special
Every February I start to count the blessings in my life.
My family is my greatest blessing and the thing that means the most to me.
It’s a great time of year to think of some new ways to show your family how much they mean to you.
As I was brainstorming what I want to do to make this year special, I came up with a list of 12 Valentine’s Day fun activities to add to your home.
I hope this list inspires you to get creative and spread some homemade love into your home too.
12 Valentine’s Day Fun Activities
1. I found this idea on Pinterest and just love it! Add a new “conversation heart” to your loved one’s door each day. These can be as elaborate or as simple as you want them to be.
2. Make a
3. Make chocolate-dipped strawberries or pretzels together.
4. Yarn Wrapped Cardboard Hearts
5. Heart-Shaped Crayons: First, peel broken crayons. Next, using a silicone heart-shaped cupcake pan, fill each cup of the pan with a variety of those colored crayon pieces. Finally, melt the crayons in the oven. So cute, and they make coloring even more fun!
6. String art: To start, draw a heart shape onto a piece of wood using a pencil. Next, hammer in some nails, evenly spread out. Then, use yarn to make the design. This project makes a great keepsake.
7. Make a wreath out of paper hearts of all different colors or all one color, whichever you find most appealing.
8. Play some conversation heart relay games. My favorite is first, forming two teams and giving each team a bowl of hearts and a spoon. Then, each team has a cup at the other end of the room. The object is to see which team can get more hearts into the cup. For more ideas, check out Pinterest.
9. Canvas Painting: I like to use this time of year to make some new decor for my home. You could do this any way you want. I am choosing the word “LOVE” for this year. First, find a blank canvas(these can even be found at Walmart). Next, use painter’s tape to write the word(s) you want. Next, paint over the whole canvas. Lastly, when dry, remove the tape to reveal your project! An instant masterpiece for any age.
10. Heart-shaped marshmallow sculptures.
First, purchase some heart-shaped marshmallows. Next, give these marshmallows to the kids, along with some toothpicks. Allow their imaginations to run wild. Watch what they create. This is a great open-ended activity that kids of all ages can enjoy.
11. Radiating Hearts Art Project: This was one of my favorite projects to make when I was growing up. I’ve enjoyed sharing this with the little ones in my life for years! We’ve done hearts, circles, squares, shamrocks, and the list goes on and on. Plus, all you need is paper and crayons.
12. Valentine’s Day Slime: Slime seems to be all the rage these days. Why not make it a seasonal activity? You can purchase a kit or scour Pinterest to find a recipe. Kids love hands-on activities. Who knows, you may even enjoy it yourself!
Making holidays special for your family builds memories that can never be erased.
