4th of July fun activities!
I’ve always loved the anticipation of holidays.
The 4th of July is no exception.
Holidays lead themselves to such fun and exciting festivities: crafts, snacks, books, etc.
Here are some of my favorite 4th of July fun activities.
Crafting with children.
One of my favorite parts of working with children is the possibility of frugal crafts, and this is one of my favorites!
Toilet paper tube fireworks.
I collect some toilet paper tubes and cut the ends. Then I give the children different colors of paint and let them make their own “fireworks”.
Aren’t the 4th of July fun activities the best?
Enjoy some kitchen time.
Another activity that I love to incorporate each year is making a flag cake.
My grandma used to make one each year and it’s a tradition I love to carry on.
I’ve experimented a lot with this. We’ve done sheet cakes, pound cakes, angel food cakes, and cupcakes.
I love using fresh fruit to make the cakes even more special.
Let’s play some balloon games!
In keeping with my theme of simplicity, I love decorating with red, white, and blue balloons, and having them lying around the house for the children to play with.
It helps to create a festive atmosphere.
The number of balloon games to play with children is innumerable and will lead to a lot of giggling, smiles, and memories!
- Hiding balloons
- Keep the balloon from touching the ground
- Try to sit on a balloon
- Play hot potato
- Find 2 balloons of the same color
Patriotic crafts
Staying on the topic of simple, yet fun, activities, I will add in that we love making paper windsocks.
All you need is a sheet of red, white, or blue paper, some stickers or markers or glitter pens, and some streamers.
If you have slightly older children, patio paver crafts are such a great activity to incorporate into making the 4th of July special.
Over the years we have used just about every shape of patio paver you can imagine.
This is the one my youngest son made this year. It is really special to him because he purchased the items on his own and freehanded the drawing as a surprise Mother’s Day gift for me because he knows how much I love homemade decor.
4th of July fun activities build memories and traditions.
I hope you find a 4th of July fun activity that you can share with your children.
Remember, simplicity is good. Things don’t have to be perfect to create an atmosphere of festivity. What is most important, is making memories with your family.
If you have a 4th of July fun activity that you enjoy with your children, I’d love to hear about it or send me a picture!
