Reading to and with my children, and the other little ones in my life brings so much joy to my heart.
I believe strongly in the importance of literacy, and love encouraging the love of literature in children.
Holidays are a special time to share the love of reading with the children in your life.
Each Valentine’s Day, I like to give each of my children, no matter how old they are, a “love” themed picture book that I’ve written a little note on the inside cover.
I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Valentine’s Day books and I’d love to share them with you.
The first book that truly touches me and that I love sharing is The Invisible String by Patrice Karst.
This book was written to show children that love is the unending connection between people who love each other, even when they are apart.
The rest of my list of favorite Valentine’s Day books is in no particular order; I truly love each and every one of these!

This book is so cute and encourages cooperation among children.
*Happy Valentine’s Day Little Critter

I love all the Little Critter books! Little children love looking for the spider on each page too. These books are ones my children have always flocked to.
*Love You Forever
By Sheila McGraw
This has always been one of my all-time favorite books. I’ve read this to my children since the day they were born.
*Ideals Valentine’s Day
My dad introduced the “Ideal” books to me when I was a young child. Oh, how I loved reading through them. The artwork, the poems, the stories–so heartwarming.
I read them with my older children and they’ve inspired artwork and poems galore!
*Mama, Do You Love Me?
By Barbara Lavallee
This book is so heartwarming and reassures a child of a parent’s unconditional love.
*I Love You! A Bushel & A Peck
By Frank Loesser and Rosemary Wells
This book has such a catchy tune that is irresistible to children(and parents!)
*How Do I Love Thee
By Jennifer Adams
A lovely ode to the love of family and friends. You can’t read it just once!
*Froggy’s First Kiss
By Jonathon London
A friend of mine introduced me to the “Froggy” books when my oldest was a toddler. These books are so much fun and so catchy! The whole Froggy series of books is what encouraged my reluctant reader to love reading.
Lastly, I am also going to include in my list two books that have really touched my heart.
These books have been monumental to me for understanding my children’s hearts and a real life-saver while navigating the crazy teenage years.
*The 5 Love Languages Of Children & The 5 Love Languages Of Teenagers
By Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell
Sharing books with children is one of the simplest and most rewarding activities we can do.
I’d love to know what your favorite Valentine’s Day books are!
