St. Patrick’s Day Fun
I love going all out and making holidays super memorable for the children in my life.
Making St. Patrick’s Day Fun is no exception.
I will begin the St. Patrick’s Day Fun by decking my house out in as much green as I can possibly stomach.
Green streamers, balloons, shamrocks, leprechauns, stars, and anything else I, or one of my children, can dream up.
Babies & Toddlers
For the youngest children, I will focus on the color GREEN.
In addition to all of the green decorations in our home, another simple way to introduce the color GREEN to babies and toddlers is through paint.
Cut out a clover or shamrock simple shape and give the youngster some green fingerpaint. If fingerpainting really isn’t your child’s thing, then they can use washable paint and chunky paintbrushes.

Preschool age
You can continue this idea of St. Patrick’s Day Fun using paint with preschoolers by stepping it up just a notch. Instead of giving them green paint, let them mix colors to create their own green paint.
It’s amazing how excited young children become when they see the colors of their paint change right before their eyes.
Another fun activity for St. Patrick’s Day for both preschool and school-aged children is making their own playdough.
Playing with some homemade playdough is another great way for children to express their creativity freely.
More preschool and elementary St. Patrick’s Day fun.
Another fun activity for younger children is going on a GREEN treasure or scavenger hunt.
There are so many different ways to put one together, and there really is no “right” or “wrong” way to organize it.
Here are some of my favorite types of “green” hunts that I’ve done for St. Patrick’s Day fun!
- Go on a walk with your child and together point out each green item you see. You can take turns finding GREEN items, or just shout them out together as you see them.
- You can prepare your child a BINGO type card with pictures of GREEN items and have them try to find each item to fill their card.
- Giving the child clues, puzzles, or riddles of GREEN items and asking them to try to find or solve them will lead to lots of learning fun!
- Set a timer and ask the children to bring you as many GREEN items as they can in set amount of time(although this can lead to a lot of cleanup in my experience lol).
No matter what you do or how you choose to make this St. Patrick’s Day fun, just giving it a little thought and preparation will make for memories you won’t soon forget.
